Momma got a new car...

YEAH!! I have cut the chains...I am no longer a Mini Van driver!! Praise Jesus!!! Granted, I have nothing against Mini Vans. They are cool if you home school your 7 children, still believe women can't wear pants, and you believe your husband is the ruler of your castle. Hee-Hee! Okay, okay. Mini Vans are fine for other people, but not me!! I am NOT a mini van driver, and I hated driving the damn thing the last 6 months.
We have a Honda Odyssey Mini Van. We bought it when we came to this great country. It is great for long hauls or carrying a shit load of people. However, maneuvering through the super narrow streets of Japan in a Mini Van is a suicide mission waiting to happen. And, I have a hell of a time trying to park the huge land yacht. It's like I'm just waiting to play bumper cars because the thing is so GIGANTIC!!! In the states, it wouldn't be a big deal, but here in Japan a large vehicle SUCKS!! Most people here drive teeny intsy pocket sized cars that fit into any little crevice of a parking spot. And, our mini van sucks gas like an alcoholic sucks liquor...it devours it! And, with the current price of gas, our mini van is not just impractica,l it is simply stupid! (Here in Japan is costs about $6.50 per gallon of gas.)
So, the other day I was driving around and I found a cute little 1995 Honda Civic with a 'for sale' sign in the window. I called about it, and it turns out the guy who owns it is an American. He's selling it because his Japanese grand kid's car seat doesn't fit in it. And, he only wants $950 bucks. So, needless to say, we wrote him a check, and now momma got a new car, sorda. The car is old, but it only has 75,000 miles on it. That is NOTHING for a Honda Civic! And, it is super clean and an automatic with AC, power windows, a radio, blah, blah, blah. Everything works, and it gets awesome gas mileage! And, I can park the thing in any car garage or parking spot. I can even park backwards now, which is necessary to do in Japan. Jude loves the new car because he got a new big boy booster/car seat. It even has arm rests and a cup holder. And, he doesn't need a parachute to jump out of the car like he did with the mini van.
On all 4 sides of the car's bumper, there are huge scratches where the previous owner hit something...probably the wall of a parking garage or a stop sign. So, I won't feel bad when I add to the already existing scratches. Yep, I won't feel bad when I bump into that curb or hit a retaining wall while trying to park. I won't be adding scratches...I'll simply be adding character to the car! Hee-Hee!!
Just another day in Weenie's World!

Congrats on the "new" car! I'm sure you're loving the gas savings! I was thinking that since I live so close to work, maybe I should just buy a big dog like a mastiff that I can put a saddle on and ride to work...teehee.
